The Hero’s Journey
People turn to self-help books, hoping to implement that advice for perhaps a week, or maybe a month, for the more patient among us. But the truth is more profound. The essence of life extends far beyond any book, YouTube video, or any other external source. The secret lies within YOU.
Consider this: you possess all that you need; the journey begins from within. A book can’t solve problems, and a drug can’t heal the soul. Only YOU have that power. You are both your greatest ally and your most formidable adversary, often depicted as the angel and demon on your shoulders. We know who to listen to but why do we pick the wrong side. It is our fear of failure, fear of success, fear of change, and thinking we are not good or worthy enough.
In reality, the devil is none other than your own doubts and the negative whispers of your conscious mind, which cloud your present with society’s preconceived notions of what life should be.
You are the only one who truly knows yourself, the self who once saw the world as a place brimming with magic and boundless possibilities. My realization is that we, as individuals, hold the answers we seek, but it requires bravery to delve that deep within ourselves. Humans are caught in a tug-of-war between our primal instincts and our capacity for reason, leading to many of our dilemmas. Indeed, we share traits with animals — we can be as strong as a lion, steadfast as a bull, free as a bird, and boundless as a whale in the sea.
Yet, we are bestowed with the gift of reason and a quest for purpose. We must strive to harmonize our primal nature with the complexities of human existence. The answers are within, but discovering them is our personal odyssey — this is the divine gift to humanity. We perceive what we choose to see, but if anything is possible, why do we dwell on the negative instead of the positive “What Ifs”? If bad things can happen, so can good..
Focus on the “What Ifs” that resonate with your passions and dreams. This sense of possibility often fades somewhere between childhood and the final years of college, as “The Real World” molds our aspirations into societal expectations.
Seize control of your life, rather than merely responding to the influences of others and the environment. Embrace your inner vision and shape the world to reflect your unique perspective.
